Working with Vintage Botanical designs
- Engraved detail needs room
- These come from plates that used fine hatching for shading. That detail is the entire character of the style, and it does not survive being shrunk.
- Cream and kraft, not white
- The look comes from aged paper. On bright white it reads as a modern reproduction rather than the original.
- Frame it rather than wear it
- Paper, canvas and timber hold this detail. On a garment the fine linework disappears into the weave.
