Working with home decor designs
- Measure the wall, then size up
- Almost everyone cuts wall decals too small the first time. Tape a paper rectangle at the size you have in mind and look at it from the doorway before you commit vinyl to it.
- Transfer tape is not optional here
- Anything wider than a hand needs transfer tape to move as one piece and stay aligned. Applying a large decal straight off the backing is how you get a crooked word and a wasted sheet.
- Match the finish to the surface
- Matte vinyl hides wall texture and fingerprints, gloss shows both. On anything other than smooth painted plaster, matte is the safer pick.
