Account & credits

How do CutFileVault credits work?
Credits are CutFileVault's currency: one credit downloads one SVG cut file. You buy credits in packs from the pricing page (no subscription, no auto-renew) and they sit in your account until you use them. Credits never expire and once you've redeemed a file, every future re-download from your library is free.
Do credits ever expire?
No. Credits never expire. Once a credit is in your account it stays there until you redeem it for a file. This is intentional — many of our customers buy a pack, work through a few designs, and come back months later for a new project.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase — email hello@cutfilevault.com from the address on the order. Credits that have already been redeemed for a download are non-refundable because the file has been delivered. See the full terms at /legal/terms.
Do I need an account to download free files?
Free files only require a working email address — we send the download link to that inbox so you can grab it without creating a password. Paid files require a CutFileVault account so we can attach credits to your library and let you re-download anything you've bought, anytime.
I lost my downloaded file. Can I get it again?
Yes. Every paid file you've ever downloaded sits in your library at /library — sign in and re-download for free, as many times as you need. We never charge a credit for a re-download.

Files & licensing

Which cutting machines are CutFileVault SVGs compatible with?
Every file is tested on the major hobby cutting machines: Cricut Maker, Maker 3, Explore Air 2, Joy, and Joy Xtra; Silhouette Cameo 4 and 5, Portrait, and Curio; and Glowforge Pro, Plus, and Basic. SVG is a vector format, so the file scales cleanly to any size your machine and material support.
What files do I get when I download a design?
Every paid download is a ZIP that contains: (1) the SVG cut file, optimised with svgo and tested for clean cuts; (2) a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background, suitable for printables, mockups, and previews; and (3) a plain-English commercial-use license you can keep on file for compliance.
Can I use CutFileVault designs commercially?
Yes — every paid download includes a commercial-use license that lets you sell up to 500 finished physical units (t-shirts, mugs, signs, decals, party decor, etc.) per design. You cannot resell or redistribute the SVG file itself, claim authorship, or use the design in print-on-demand stores that mass-produce the same item without per-unit limits. Read the full terms at /legal/license.
Are CutFileVault designs layered SVGs?
Most designs are multi-layer SVGs with each colour on its own layer, so you can assign vinyl colours in Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio without manually splitting the file. Single-layer designs (line art, single-colour logos) are noted in the product description.
Can I resize a CutFileVault SVG without losing quality?
Yes. SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is mathematically defined, not pixel-based, so a CutFileVault file scales from a 1-inch decal to a 4-foot wall sign with no quality loss. The included PNG, by contrast, is rasterised at a fixed resolution — use it for printables and previews, not for cutting at large sizes.

SVG, Cricut, Silhouette, Glowforge

What's the difference between SVG and PNG for Cricut projects?
SVG is a vector cut file — Cricut Design Space reads the paths and tells the machine where to cut. PNG is a raster image and Cricut treats it as a print-then-cut design (it prints the image with the home printer and then trims around it). For vinyl, HTV, cardstock, and most other Cricut materials you want the SVG. The PNG included in every CutFileVault download is for printables, sublimation, mugs, and previews.
Will CutFileVault SVGs work in Cricut Design Space free version?
Yes. Uploading SVG files is a free Cricut Design Space feature — you don't need Cricut Access. Open Design Space, click Upload, drag the SVG in, and it imports as a cut-ready image with each colour on its own layer.
What's a watermarked preview vs the actual file?
Every product page shows a watermarked PNG preview so you can see exactly what you're getting before spending a credit. The watermark is only on the on-site preview — your downloaded SVG and PNG are clean, unmarked production files.

How to upload a CutFileVault SVG to Cricut Design Space

A 5-minute walkthrough for first-time Cricut users. The same steps work for Silhouette Studio (use File → Open instead of Upload) and Glowforge (use the Add Artwork → Upload File flow).

  1. 1

Download the file from your library

Sign in to CutFileVault, open /library, find the design and click Download. You'll get a ZIP containing the SVG, PNG, and license. Unzip it somewhere easy to find — the Desktop or a Cricut folder works well.

  2. 2

    Open Cricut Design Space

Launch Cricut Design Space on desktop or web. Click New Project to start a fresh canvas, or open an existing project you want to add the design to.

  3. 3

Click Upload in the left sidebar

In the left navigation, click the Upload icon (an arrow pointing up). Then click Upload Image and either browse to the unzipped SVG or drag-and-drop it into the upload zone.

  4. 4

    Confirm and add to canvas

Design Space will preview the SVG with each layer visible. Give it a name and tags if you want, click Upload, then select the imported design and click Add to Canvas.

  5. 5

    Resize, ungroup layers, and cut

Resize the design to your project size. If it's a multi-layer design, leave it grouped or ungroup to assign different vinyl colours per layer. Click Make It and follow the mat preview to load your material and run the cut.
